The 4th Brompton World Championship was held at BIKE BLENHEIM PALACE in 2009.  Over 600 Brompton riders took part in this "seriously fun" race.  Serious because this is a serious race run under British Cycling regulations and fun because all participants must wear a jacket and tie to reflect the commuter roots of this special bike.

In 2009 the race was won by three-time Tour of Spain winner Roberto Heras in 21.45 minutes, beating Time Trial champion Michael Hutchinson by less than a second.

The race starts with a Le Mans start where competitors have to unfold their bikes before they could get onto the road.  This is undoubtedly the highlight of the BIKE BLENHEIM PALACE day.
